Yoshi is one of the heroes of Mushroom World and an ally and friend of Mario and his friends. He is a member of the Yoshi race and has aided his brethren in saving their homeland on multiple occasions. Yoshi has also helped save other kingdoms with Mario's help. In his youth, Yoshi rescued Baby Mario and protected him, and later rescued Baby Luigi from the Koopa Troop. Yoshi made his first appearance in Super Mario World's Yoshi's Island 2. Yoshi attacks by sticking his tongue out and eating the enemy, which in the Yoshi's Island series is primarily Shy Guys, and then turning them into eggs which can be used as ammo to throw at other enemies.

Yoshi is actually seen but this time it is only a white Yoshi instead of the normal green one.
Bowser's Kingdom[]

A few Yoshi's make an appearance in the Bowser's Kingdom show as minor characters.
Although not actually seen, Yoshi is referenced in Episode 4 when Hal and Jeff fly Bowser's clown copter past his house, which has a large sign outside it saying "YOSHI". They knock his mailbox over and laugh about it before flying away.
In Episode 7, Team Super Awesome Dynamite Platinum Bros. place first during the Villains' Olympics and are awarded an all-expenses paid trip to Yoshi's Island. On the island, the three team members, Chomp Bro., Mega Mole and Mouser, discover that the Yoshi's are actually quite hostile and Chomp Bro. is forced to save Mega Mole from being swallowed by one of them. Mouser begins to panic when three other Yoshi's gang up on him.
A Yoshi makes a cameo in the Bowser's Kingdom movie as a racer on a Mario Kart racetrack, until he is hit by Paul Hammerbro's hammers. His design in the movie resembles his design from Super Mario World instead of Yoshi's Island.
