Bowser's Kingdom The Movie

Bowser's Kingdom: The Movie is a 20-minute movie of the Newground series Bowser's Kingdom and the series finale. This movie was made by Araskin500 and Pthouse. The Bowser's Kingdom Movie was released on Newgrounds on October 16, 2008.

Synopsis[]

Basically what the title says. This movie stars Jeff and Hal disguising themselves as the Mario Bros. to kidnap the princess. But after ruining Steve's day, Steve decides to get revenge on them by lying to Bowser that they're traitors trying to capture the princess for themselves.

Plot[]

The movie starts with the screen panning up to Bowser's castle and thunderstorms in the sky, as Kamek flies by the castle. As the screen pans up into the top of the castle into one of its doors, the screen pans to Bowser who hires Hal and Jeff to dress up as the Mario brothers: which are Mario and Luigi to kidnap Princess Toadstool, and bring her to his castle by letting the toads know that they're the real Mario and Luigi and enter the castle to kidnap her, as his new master plan, but if they screw up the mission, they will be in the leap of pain by Bowser. Both Hal and Jeff agree to the assignment.

Hal and Jeff then walk into a field, wondering how their mission is going to go, due to them failing every other mission given to them by Bowser, and that how their going to disguise themselves to fool the Toad guards at Peach's castle. But the duo eventually encounter Steve, with his flower friends, which a small group of egg plants, who greets them happily, as he is enjoying his relaxing and fantastic day that won't be ruined, but Hal is then annoyed and ruins his perfect day for him by stomping on his flowers. After an upset Steve leaves, the duo heads back home, and disguises themselves as Mario and Luigi.

Meanwhile, a Beezo heads to Bowser's castle and informs Bowser that the said Goomba, and Koopa Troopa have other plans in mind (due to ruining Steve's perfect day), and Bowser thinks his minions have betrayed him. The duo heads to Peach's castle, but greeted by a gay toad guard, who is attracted to Luigi (which Hal is disguised as) and flirts with Hal's disguise, thinking that he is the real Luigi, but Hal thinks that he is a gay. The duo heads into Princess Toadstool's bedroom and greet her, but she easily annoys the duo, as she claims that Jeff looks more shorter and fatter and thinks that Hal looks like a "homo." Meanwhile, Beezo tells Bowser that the duo have entered Peach's castle with the said disguises, and uses a telescope to see the evidence. Bowser tells the Beezo to send in his minions and let them to "kill the traitors."

The Princess and the duo ride a hot air balloon together to land on the ground to have a picnic, however, Hal investigates the noise but interrupted by Paul Hammerbro and a group of flying minions being told from Bowser to them after betraying him. The minions chased them during the picnic and the hot air balloon. The princess gives the duo powerups, which are; a super mushroom, which Jeff doesn't eat because of cannibalism, a fire flower, which Hal absorbs and a feather that Jeff uses after absorbing its power and flies in the air, as he tries to tells the minions that it is a disguise, but as Paul is unaware. Jeff is then hit by one of his hammers and falls into a nearby forest. Hal and the princess get away in the hot air balloon. Meanwhile, Paul, and Rick are chasing the traitors and the princess thinking that they are not going to get far, but get into a conservation how Paul's obsession with hammers and Rick shows him his Geno doll, prompting Paul to tell Rick to "shut the hell up!"

Meanwhile, Jeff survives the fall, but for several hours, he goes to search for the Karate Duo Number 1 for help, but caught by Rick in a fishing trap to take him to Bowser, as he was trying to eat a hamburger on the hook, due to him being hungry. The Karate Duo then come and proceed to knock Rick off his cloud, saving Jeff. The trio then meet up and later they enter Wario's car and drive off to a racetrack, followed by Paul Hammerbro.

On the said racetrack, the trio are chased by Paul Hammerbro, who wrecks havoc on the racetrack by throwing hammers on the racers. The trio hit item boxes, by throwing Koopa shells at him, but the car is hit and crashes into the Inaudible Thwomp, who is sleeping in middle of the course, but avoids damage. Paul Hammerbro then has his hammer grow, but before he could flatten the three, a blue colored Koopa shell with spikes comes flying towards them and the duo kick it back to Paul, causing an explosion that launches Paul far off into the distance with a cry of "curses hammers again", and the duo continues to drive with Jeff in the Wario car.

Meanwhile, Princess Toadstool, and Hal hide into the brushes as they were interrupted by a large group of Bowser's minions trying to catch him as the hot air balloon landed in the forest. After two Shy Guys are scared off by a Big Boo from the Ghost House, the two proceed to enter the said haunted house, but are watched by a single Toady, who sees their presence, he goes offscreen and would obviously warn Bowser's minions. In the Ghost House, the two are confronted by a Big Boo, who scares the princess, but never tries to go after them, but then interrupted by Petey Piranha breaking in, who vomits on them, and Bowser's minions charge into the Ghost House, making the Big Boo disappear, but the two are surrounded. However, Jeff and the Karate Duo crash into the wall and the Wario car proceeds to fall straight into Petey's mouth, making him fate. Hal is reunited with Jeff, the Karate Duo protects them from the minions and the duo flees with Peach (who has begun to suspect that they are not who they say they are).

The Karate Duo ends up dealing with the army of minions and use Lucky Candy to gain them superpowers, which they proceed to defeat half of the remaining minions of Bowser. After Jeff, Hal and the princess escape the chaos, they enter a nearby wrap pipe to an underground cave, but are confronted by Steve, after hearing ghostly calls from his catchphrase. Here, Steve mentions his plan to the duo and kidnaps the princess with his vines and gets away in a wrap pipe while their distracted, as the real Mario, and Luigi came out of a pipe and beat them up, leaving them to be battered and bruised.

As the credits play, Mario, and Luigi somehow enter Bowser's castle and recuse the princess from Steve and Bowser, and take off into a hot air balloon with Toad. Meanwhile, the Karate Duo beats up Zangief from Street Fighter and Rick continues to be a therapist to Paul and shows him his Geno doll. Then the last scene shows a stomped Jeff and beaten up Hal on the ground. Hal then says "that's it, I quit" and Jeff ends saying "screw this", meaning that the duo will never work for Bowser ever again.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first and only time where Steve is the main villain in the series.
  • The Super Mario All-Stars castle tileset used for the design of Bowser's castle could be a reference to "Rise of The Mushroom Kingdom", an another Super Mario web-series on Newgrounds, which was made by Randy Solem.
  • Most of the art style is based on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, mostly notably the ground and the forest backgrounds.
    • The Egg Plants from the said game are Steve's friends, and the same flowers that Hal stomped on.
    • Despite the SMW art style, this movie doesn't take place in Dinosaur Land.
  • A Mario themed website called "Mario Fan Games Galaxy" was used for the movie's sprite themed animated, most notably the custom made racer sprites for Wario, Waluigi, Dry Bones, and Baby Daisy seen in Mario Kart segment.
  • Most of the music used in the movie are from Super Mario RPG Legends of the Seven Stars (Smithy's theme is used), Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl.
    • A"Mega Man 3 Title Theme Remix", "Mario 64 - Bowser Hardcore", a remix of the SMB2 theme called "SMB2 Mario + Vegetables" and "Bowser The Shredder" are music tracks used in the movie and they were all from Newgrounds.
  • Yoshi's design and the green Koopa Shells designs are taken from Super Mario World, instead of Yoshi's Island.
  • A Paratroopa and Para-Goomba appear in the movie, they look exactly like Hal and Jeff with wings.
  • Street Fighter 2 is referenced in this movie by the Karate Duo Number 1 such as the use of Lucky Candy, as they have Ryu's body, and in the credits they beat up Zangief.
  • The post-credit scene with the Red Shy Guy, and Steve with a watch that was stuck up the Shy Guy's ass is once again a reference to the 1994 movie "Pulp Fiction".

Goofs/Errors[]

  • In the credits, despite being a Beezo that informs Bowser about Jeff and Hal is credited as a Fly Guy instead, despite not resembling a Fly Guy from Yoshi's Island.
    • Its unknown why a Beezo would work for Bowser, when Beezo's originally worked for Wart in Subcon in Super Mario Bros. 2, which takes place in Mario's dream, that he had.
  • Like other episodes, Paul and Rick as listed as "Hammerbro" and "Lakitu" in the credits, despite guest starring.
  • The website "Mario Fan Games Galaxy" is credited as "Man Fan Games Galaxy" for unknown reasons.
